Kraft Sports Productions is excited to announce its latest addition to a robust line-up of audio content that makes up Patriots.com Radio.
Longtime NFL writers Don Banks and Christopher Price will team up to host a new NFL-centric podcast starting next week, Tuesday, April 25. "Cover 2 with Banks and Price" will bring decades of coverage experience to the table as they break down the news and topics of the day in the NFL. With analysis and insight from around the league and a wide-ranging roster of guests, listeners will discover that no one covers the NFL like the guys from Cover 2.
Banks brings 27 years of experience covering the NFL, including 16-plus years of writing and talking about the league for Sports Illustrated. Before being hired by SI in early 2000, Banks was an award-winning beat writer covering the Tampa Bay Bucs and Minnesota Vikings for three different newspapers in Florida and Minnesota. He writes the popular game-day Snap Judgments column, which debuted in 2004 for Sports Illustrated, moved to NFL.com last fall, and now appears at Patriots.com.
Banks also served as SI's mock draft expert for years, and appeared on camera for the CNN/SI network in 2000-2002, where he handled a variety of NFL assignments. More recently he performed in a host of analyst roles for Sports Illustrated on video and in live-streaming online shows, including Pro Football Now and SI Now. He co-hosted a weekly "Audibles'' podcast for Sports Illustrated in 2016, and is known for his deep institutional memory of the history of professional football over the course of the past five decades.
Price's daily work as a columnist and on-air analyst has drawn praise from many of his colleagues, including those at The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, Sports Illustrated and ESPN. The author of three books, his most important work was, "The Blueprint: How the New England Patriots Beat the System to Create the Last Great NFL Superpower." An in-depth look at the recent success of the Patriots, it was named one of the Top 5 sports books of 2007 by Sports Illustrated. Released in October 2007 by St. Martins, it's a studied and intelligent look at New England's revolutionary approach that quickly became one of the hottest sports titles of the year, as the Patriots notched the first 16-0 regular-season mark in the history of the NFL. Coaches and GMs from the NFL to the NHL and NBA have praised the work, including Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors and Ken Holland of the Detroit Red Wings.
Price's fourth book -- "Drive For Five: The Remarkable Run of the 2016 Patriots" -- offers a comprehensive look at the success story of the latest Super Bowl winners. Set to be released in September 2017, it goes behind the scenes to find the championship formula that helped New England bring home its fifth title.
In addition to his work as a writer and author, Price continues to be in great demand. He's appeared on the NFL Network, NBC Sports Radio, Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, the WEEI Sports Radio Network and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to talk about the Boston sports scene. In addition, he's appeared on several New England–based shows like "Sports Tonight" on Comcast Sports New England, "NESN Live" on the New England Sports Network and "Greater Boston" on WGBH.
Cover 2 with Banks and Price will join Kraft Sports Production's stable of audio content offerings that include, Pre- and Post-game shows, PFW in Progress, Patriots Playbook with John Rooke, The Bob Socci Show, Patriots Roster Report and Training Camp-cast. The full line-up can be found here.
