The Associated Press has reported that Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak will not interview for the New England Patriots head coaching position.
New England had received permission from Denver Head Coach Mike Shanahan to speak with Kubiak, but Kubiak withdrew his name on Tuesday.
"I have talked with the Patriots via telephone, and we had a great conversation," Kubiak said Tuesday in a statement. "However, I'm not going to be going to New England for an interview.
"I'm very flattered and I appreciate being contacted and considered for the position. For a number of personal reasons, I will not be a candidate for that job."
Kubiak's decision to withdraw himself keeps Shanahan's coaching staff intact. In Shanahan's five-year coaching tenure in Denver, he has never lost a coordinator or position coach from his staff.
