ALLEN PARK, Mich. (April 21, 2005) -- The Detroit Lions have signed restricted free agent tackle Kyle Kosier to a one-year deal and released offensive lineman Matt Joyce.
Kosier signed an offer sheet with the Lions on April 13, the team said.
San Francisco, which took Kosier in the seventh-round of the 2002 NFL draft, declined to match the offer and will be compensated with Detroit's seventh-round pick this weekend.
Kosier, who started 28 games the past two seasons, will compete with Kelly Butler and Victor Rogers to be Detroit's starting right tackle.
Joyce completed his 10th season in 2004, playing 12 games and starting three at left guard for Detroit. He signed with the Lions on April 26, 2001 and played in 69 games with 27 starts over four seasons.
