New England wide receiver Sean Morey scored the only Barcelona touchdown in the Dragons 18-7 loss to the Rhein Fire Saturday.
With 1:41 left in the game, Morey caught a 7-yard pass from Cory Saughter for the only Barcelona score. On the play preceding the touchdown, a Saughter pass to Morey was deflected away by Rhein's Matthew Hickl.
Morey led Barcelona (1-3) in receiving for the second time in three weeks with seven catches for 61 yards. Through four weeks Morey is tied for fifth in the league with 19 receptions, even though he missed the first game of the season.
Ahead of him are two Barcelona teammates, the NFL Europe's all-time leading receiver and a highly-touted Dallas prospect. Teammate Damian Vaughn leads the league with 25 catches. Frankfurt's Mario Bailey, NFL Europe's career leader in receptions, is second with 22 and fellow Dragon Jeremaine Copeland is third with 21. Just ahead of Morey is Dallas Cowboy allocation Jeff Ogden with 20 catches.
Morey did have a penalty on special teams. He was called for roughing the kicker on Rhein's Danny Kight on the last play of the first half. Kight, allocated by the Indianapolis Colts, set an NFL Europe record with a 56-yard field goal, but Morey dove into him while trying to block the attempt. Kight was injured and did not return after the play.
New England linebacker Marc Megna recorded three tackles, including one of Rhein running back Pepe Pearson that resulted in a 3-yard loss. Defensive tackle Garrett Johnson contributed two tackles in the loss.
New England defensive tackle Noel Scarlett had one tackle in the Scottish Claymores 42-3 drubbing of Berlin Sunday. Scarlett and the first-place Claymores are now 3-1.
