News Blitz 3/18: Bennett's media ribbing

Today’s Patriots.com News Blitz brings all the Patriots action from around the web, including tight end Martellus Bennett’s personality coming through in his first conference call with the New England media.

The Patriots now have two tight ends with rather unique, outgoing personalities. And as exciting as Rob Gronkowski and new trade addition Martellus Bennett could be on the field, it sounds that they could be equally as fun off of it.

Bennett held his first conference call with the New England media on Thursday and it didn't take long for his unique personality to shine through.

The Boston Globe noted that Bennett’s sense of humor was clear when asked about a ribs injury he dealt with in Chicago. On an unrelated topic, the Globe's Ben Volin writes why the NFL needs to expand team rosters to 57 players.

The Boston Herald makes it clear that Gronkowski and Bennett could form an unparalleled tandem at the tight end position. The Herald also has another new Patriots trade addition, guard Jonathan Cooper, looking to tap into his potential in his new home in New England.

The Providence Journal describes Bennett as following his own path to Foxborough.

ESPNBoston.com notes that Nate Ebner, who is currently pursuing a spot on the Olympic rugby team, got a $500,000 guarantee in his new contract with the Patriots. The Patriots signed running back Donald Brown this week, with ESPNBoston noting the pass protection skills the veteran brings with him to New England. The site points out Chandler Jones and Chris Long having a little fun on Twitter. The site has Cooper bringing the potential to be a great player with the Patriots. ESPNBoston also writes that Bennett and Gronkowksi could push each other to become better players.
