Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com believes the Patriots will come out of the draft, or free agency, with at least one more quarterback.

"They can't go into training camp with just two like they have right now. The question is 'how early do you take that plunge?' I'd think third round at the earliest, with the caveat that the late second-round pick (62nd) is almost like a third-rounder," adds Reiss. "I put that need at No. 7 on the list when projecting the short- and long-term picture. Of course, just because it's No. 7 doesn't mean it will be picked seventh in the order. If the right player is there in the third round, for example, the team likely wouldn't wait to strike it (e.g. Ryan Mallett in 2011, Kevin O'Connell in 2008)." READ MORE>>

Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald shares her view on the potential impact of draft prospect Deone Bucannon in 2014. The Washington State safety could be on the Patriots radar in the early rounds this May.

"While second year man Duron Harmon is hoping to get most of the starting time alongside Devin McCourty, and the Pats are planning to also see if cornerback Logan Ryan can make the move over to safety, Bucannon is a natural fit at strong safety and perfect compliment to McCourty," writes Guregian. "He would get on the field, for sure. He would also be an impact player right away on special teams." READ MORE>>

Nick O'Malley](http://blog.masslive.com/patriots/2014/04/newenglandpatriots2014nfl_32.html) of MassLive.com wonders if Minnesota safety Brock Vereen could team up with his brother Shane on the Patriots following May's NFL draft.

"A probable late-round pick, Vereen wouldn't be counted upon too much to play safety as a rookie," writes O'Malley. "However, his work on special teams at Minnesota would help him get on the field early and solidify a roster spot. If the coaching staff likes he play on special teams enough, Vereen could end up being an upgrade over Nate Ebner as a special teams player since he has some real coverage chops that could develop in the Patriots' system." Tom E. Curran of CSNNE.com takes a look at Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage, and wonders if the Patriots would spend a first-round draft choice on him.

"They are so unpredictable in the draft, nothing can be ruled out," notes Curran. "It would seem more ready-made players are going to be available. However, if the Patriots want to draft a backup/would-be successor to Brady and they believe Savage is their guy, they may not want to risk waiting until the third round and will have to act fast."
