GREEN BAY, Wis. (Feb. 21, 2005) -- The Green Bay Packers designated three-time Pro Bowl tight end Bubba Franks as their transition player on Monday.
The Packers can try to negotiate a long-term deal with Franks. Until a deal is reached, Franks will receive a one-year contract at a tender rate set by the NFL for tight ends.
The Packers will have right of first refusal to match any offer Franks receives.
Franks, Green Bay's top pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, is tied with Mark Chmura for third place in franchise history for career receptions with 188.
