Smithfield, R.I. - The New England Patriots waived linebacker Setema Gali and running back Walter Williams today.
Gali, 26, was signed to the Patriots practice squad on Dec. 28, 2001 and spent the entire postseason on their practice squad. The 6-foot-4-inch, 275-pounder was originally signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2001 draft by the San Diego Chargers on April 30 but was waived on May 4. Gali earned three letters at BYU and recorded 94 tackles, including 19 sacks during this career.
Williams, 24, was originally signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2001. The 6-foot, 210-pounder was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 2. Williams gained 1,033 total yards during his final season at Grambling in 1999.
