The New England Patriots returned to Foxboro Monday evening to a throng of fans at Gillette Stadium welcoming them home. That was just a precursor to the over 1.5 million fans that turned out in Boston for today's championship parade.
Fans clung to tree limbs, climbed on roofs, hung out windows and packed themselves in at Boston's City Hall Plaza for a glimpse of their football heroes. The parade route began by bus in Foxboro to the Prudential Center in Boston. There, players, coaches and other members of the Patriots organization boarded Duck Boats and headed up Boylston Street to their final destination.
Fans showered their team with screams of joy throughout while the players soaked in everything, taking videos and pictures in celebration of what they worked all season for.
After John Rooke, Gillette Stadium's PA announcer warmed up the crowd, the guests of honor took the stage in front of City Hall where Gil Santos took over the emcee duties.
Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick and several of the Patriots addressed the crowd while Kraft and Ty Law did their now customary celebration dance.
