FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have placed OL Tyronne Green on injured reserve and released OL Kevin Haslam and WR Michael Jenkins.
Green, 27, originally signed with the Patriots on May 13, 2013 but was released on May 31 before re-signing on July 25. The 6-foot-2, 316-pounder, is a veteran of four NFL seasons with San Diego (2009-12) after joining the team as fourth-round (133rd overall) draft pick out of Auburn in 2009. Green has played in 41 NFL games with 28 starts at both guard positions. Last season in San Diego, Green started 13 games at left guard.
Haslam, 26, was claimed off waivers and awarded to New England from San Diego on May 22, 2013. The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder, is a veteran of three NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2010-11) and San Diego Chargers (2012). He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Jacksonville out of Rutgers in 2010. He has played in 10 NFL games with three starts. Haslam played in five games as a rookie for the Jaguars in 2010 before being placed on injured reserve and then missed the entire 2011 season due to an injury. Haslam was released by Jacksonville after the 2011 season and was signed by Oakland in the offseason. After being released by Oakland at the end of training camp, Haslam was signed to the San Diego practice squad. He was signed to the 53-man roster in Week 11 of last season and played in five games with three starts at left tackle.
Jenkins, 31, was signed by the Patriots as a free agent on March 28, 2013. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder, is a veteran of nine NFL seasons with the Atlanta Falcons (2004-10) and Minnesota Vikings (2011-12). Jenkins originally entered the NFL as a first-round draft choice (No. 29 overall) by the Falcons out of Ohio State in 2004. He was released by Atlanta on July 29, 2011, and signed by Minnesota on July 30. After two seasons with the Vikings, Jenkins was released March 5, 2013. Jenkins has played in 130 NFL games with 79 starts and has 354 receptions for 4,427 yards and 25 touchdowns. Last season, he played in 16 games with eight starts and finished with 40 receptions for 447 yards and two touchdowns.
