Love, 24, was originally drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2001 NFL draft (180th overall). The 6-foot-4-inch, 255-pound South Carolina State product spent the first half of his rookie season on the team's physically unable to perform list. He was activated on Nov. 21, 2001, but was listed among the team's inactives prior to each of the final six games. He was released by the team on Sept. 1, 2002 and re-signed to the practice squad.
