Bledsoe hit four different targets in the end zone. He hit Ben Coates for 4 yards and then Terry Glenn for 25 yards in the first quarter.
Meanwhile the Patriots defense was at work shutting down the Chargers. The defense held SanDiego to only 227 yards total and forced them to punt seven out of the twelve times they had the ball.
Bledsoe then in the second quarter hit Keith Byers and Sam Gash for touchdowns, totaling his count to four in the first half alone.
The Patriots put their back up players in to close the game as they made the final score to kickoff the 1997 season 41-7.
