SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -Tom Brady sprach lange und ausgiebig mit einem seiner alten Helden, Tom Rathman, doch dann schaltete er die Nostalgie für ein paar Stunden aus und erzielte seinen 199. Saisonsieg.Â
Brady warf an diesem Sonntag für 280 Yards und vier Touchdowns. Die New England Patriots konnten die 49ers mit 30:17 schlagen. Brady konnte Brett Favres Rekord für die meisten Siege eines Quarterbacks einstellen. Mit seinem nächsten Sieg wird Brady Peyton Manning seinen Platz an der Spitze streitig machen.Â
Zurück daheim in der Bay Area, und zum ersten Mal als Spieler im Stadion der 49ers, die er als kleiner Junge dort anfeuerte, übernahm Brady die Kontrolle über das Spiel und bescherte seinem Team den verdienten Sieg.Â
Als das Spiel zu Ende war, erschien ein Regenbogen über dem Stadion. Ein passendes Zeichen für eine herausragende Leistung Bradys. TB12 warf dann noch einen Football in den Fanblock, ehe er sich mit einigen Fans unterhielt.
"Es war sehr toll, es geht nicht besser. Zum ersten Mal die Gelegenheit zu haben in San Francisco zu spielen war besonders" sagte Brady. "Diese besondere Stimmung konnte man schon beim Aufwärmen spüren, und sie blieb bis in den letzten Spielzug hinein. Es war großartig! Die 49ers haben ein großartiges Team, und sie haben schon immer viele Kinder hier in der Gegend inspiriert. So auch mich."
Unter Druck und auf rutschigem Grass fand Brady Danny Amendola für einen 5-yard Touchdown zu Beginn des vierten Viertels. Dann erreichte er Malcolm Mitchell mit einem Pass für seinen vierten Touchdown.Â
Brady warf auch kürzere Touchdown Pässe auf Julian Edelman und James White in seinen zwei ersten Ballbesitzen Spielzügen und vollendete 24 von 40 Pässen. Die in der AFC East führenden Patriots (8-2) konnten sich an einem regnerischen Tag gut von ihrer Niederlage gegen die Seahawks erholen.
Edelman fing einen 4-Yard TD Pass für die ersten Punkte des Spiels, als er sich von Keith Reaser lösen konnte. Er hatte am Ende 8 Receptions für 77 Yards auf seinem Konto. Mitchell hatte vier Catches für 98 Yards.
Brady traf White für einen 9-Yard Touchdown, und dann erzielte Amendola einen Karriere-Höhepunkt mit seinem vierten TD Catch in 2016. Mitchells machte mit seinem ersten Touchdown seiner Karriere den Sack zu.
Brady vollendete 8 seiner ersten 9 Pässe und insgesamt 9 von 11 Pässen. Die Defensive steuerte 4 Sacks in der ersten Hälfte, und 5 insgesamt, bei.Â
Brady hatte noch nie auswärts gegen die 49ers gespielt. Vor dem Auswärtsspiel 2008 hatte er sich am Knie verletzt. Es dauerte bis zu seiner 17ten NFL Saison, ehe er seine Chance erhielt. Wie üblich wurde er den Erwartungen gerecht und rief eine herausragende Leistung ab.Â
