FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed free agent DB Chevis Jackson. Terms of the contract were not announced.
Jackson, 5-11, 193 pounds, was originally selected in the third round (68th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons out of Louisiana State. He played in 31 games for the Falcons, starting three and compiling 51 tackles, one sack and one interception. He returned his first career interception 95-yards for a touchdown against New Orleans on Nov. 9, 2008. He also recorded an interception in a Wild Card playoff game against Arizona on Jan. 3, 2009.
Jackson was released by the Falcons on Sept. 4, 2010 and signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 18, 2010. He played in two games for Jacksonville this season before being released on Nov. 17.
