FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots signed rookie fullback Garrett Mills today. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. New England selected Mills in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.
Mills, 22, attended the University of Tulsa, where he played in 50 games with 33 starts over four seasons, not missing a game and leading all Tusla receivers for three straight seasons (2003-05). The 6-foot-1-inch, 235-pound fullback amassed 201 receptions for 2,389 yards and 23 touchdowns at Tulsa as an H-back and tight end. His 201 career receptions rank second in Division 1-A history for tight ends and third in Tulsa history among all players. His 2,389 career receiving yards are tied for second in Division 1-A history among tight ends and ranks sixth on Tulsa's all-time list.
