FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have signed free agent tackle Will Svitek (pronounced – SVEE-teck). Terms of the contact were not announced.
Svitek, 31, is a veteran of seven NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs (2005-07) and the Atlanta Falcons (2009-12). The 6-foot-6, 308-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft choice by Kansas City in 2005 out of Stanford. A defensive lineman in college, Kansas City converted him to the offensive line. Svitek was released by Kansas City at the end of training camp in 2008 and spent the season out of football. He was signed by Atlanta on Feb. 12, 2009. Svitek spent the entire 2012 season on injured reserve due to an arm injury. He has played in 61 NFL games with 16 starts during his seven NFL seasons.
