FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today the signing of free agents CB Will Allen and OL Robert Gallery. Terms of the contracts were not announced.
Allen, 33, is a veteran of 10 NFL seasons with the New York Giants (2001-05) and Miami Dolphins (2006-11). The 5-10, 195-pounder originally entered the NFL as a first round draft pick (22nd overall) of the New York Giants in 2001 out of Syracuse. He joined the Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent on March 20, 2006. During his 10 NFL seasons, Allen has started in 130 of 140 games and has registered 532 total tackles, 5.0 sacks, 15 interceptions with one returned for a touchdown, 118 passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries. In addition, he has started in three postseason games with two starts with the Giants in 2002 and 2005 and one with the Dolphins in 2008.
Last season with Miami, Allen played in 15 games with six starts and finished the season with 43 total tackles and three passes defensed.
Gallery, 31, is a veteran of eight NFL seasons with the Oakland Raiders (2004-10) and the Seattle Seahawks (2011). He originally entered the NFL as a first round draft pick (2nd overall) by Oakland in the 2004 NFL Draft out of Iowa. Gallery, 6-7, 325 pounds, was signed by Seattle as an unrestricted free agent on July 29, 2011. He was released by Seattle on March 14, 2011.
Gallery has played in 104 games with 103 starts during his eight NFL seasons at both tackle and guard. He was the winner of the Outland trophy in 2003 as the nation's best interior lineman and was a unanimous All-America first team selection.
