FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have released LB Ja'Whaun Bentley.
Bentley, 28, was originally a fifth-round draft pick (143rd overall) by New England out of Purdue in the 2018 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-2, 250-pounder, has played in 83 regular season games with 68 starts and has registered 499 total tackles, 10½ sacks, 2 interceptions, 11 passes defensed, 4 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. In addition, the four-time team captain and Super Bowl LIII champion has played in two postseason games with one start, totaling 6 tackles. Last season with New England, Bentley was limited to just two games due to injury, finishing with 12 total tackles and half a sack.
