FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson (pronounced – KAY-luv-von CHASE-on) as an unrestricted free agent from Las Vegas and OL Wes Schweitzer (pronounced – SHY-tzer) as an unrestricted free agent from the New York Jets. Terms of the contracts were not announced.
Chaisson, 25, is a veteran of five NFL seasons with Jacksonville (2020-23) and Las Vegas (2024). The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick (20th overall) by Jacksonville in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisiana State. He signed with Carolina as an unrestricted free agent from Jacksonville on March 15, 2024 but was released on Sept. 3. Chaisson signed with the Las Vegas practice squad on Sept. 10 and was signed to the 53-man roster on Oct. 5.
Overall, he has played in 72 regular season games with 15 starts and has registered 104 total tackles, 10 sacks, 1 interception, 4 passes defensed and 1 forced fumble. Last season with the Raiders, Chaisson played in 15 games with four starts and finished with 32 total tackles, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble.
Schweitzer, 31, is a veteran of nine NFL seasons with Atlanta (2016-2019), Washington (2020-22) and the New York Jets (2023-24). The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick (195th overall) by Atlanta in the 2016 NFL Draft out of San Jose State. He has played in 90 regular season games with 62 starts – 28 at left guard, six at center and 28 at right guard. He was limited to just four games last season with the Jets due to injury.
