JULIAN EDELMAN, WIDE RECEIVER
(On the competition level at the wide receiver position)
"There's competition everywhere. Competition makes the best out of players. We've got a room with a lot of guys that can do a lot of things, so it's going to make us better."
(On the vibe of the team as they all return for practice today)
"The vibe is always good in the beginning. You want to see the vibe after Day 12 of training camp. That's the vibe you want to see, but everyone is excited to be back. It's good to come and get to go out and practice in front of the fans, see these guys get all riled up. It brings an energy to practice so that's always nice, so I guess it's a good vibe right now."
(On what the toughest part of returning to training camp is)
"The toughest part is probably having to stay in hotels and all of the meetings. It's a pretty rigorous schedule. It's a meeting 'here,' meeting 'there,' meeting, practice, meeting, meeting, meeting. Those are always tough, but it makes us better."
(On his favorite part about coming back to camp)
"Seeing the fellas, seeing what this team is going to be made out of, seeing the new guys, seeing the old guys. That's always the funnest part, or the most fun."
(On his reaction to seeing all of this fanfare on Day 1 of training camp)
"I mean, nothing surprises you with our fans. How many people were here? It's a lot. It's certainly more than we had at my college games, so that's pretty cool. We always feel and love the support that we get here in this community."
(On how the team manages having such high expectations)
"You manage your expectations. You focus on what you have on your plate at that moment of time, the time right now. Right now at the start of training camp you make mistakes. You want to go out and learn from them and just continually try to improve to make each day the best it can possibly be going into the regular season. Constant improvement and expectations are expectations - you always have to manage those because if you get your hopes up, you get your feelings hurt."

(On his reaction to Day 1 of training camp)
"It's a fun environment, a lot of people out, great teammates. There is a lot of cheering, so it's fun out here. It makes it more fun."
(On the crazy environment from the fans on the first day)
"Yeah, it's crazy. There are a lot of people here, great fans and great support."
(On what it has been like getting acclimated here with his fellow defensive backs)
"It's good. I'm getting better and better every day trying to learn the calls and learn the scheme. OTA's and minicamp helped me out a lot. [It's] the first day of training camp, I feel more comfortable, so I'm just trying to get better every day."
(On the challenge of squaring off against this talented receiving corps)
"There are a lot of good receivers that make me better. I'm trying to make them better. We're just trying to compete against each other and have a good day."
(On the most important thing for him to get done over this first week of camp)
"Just get better every day, compete. I know where I want to be. Just take it a day at a time. It's not going to be easy, but I've got to work on my craft and get better."
(On being the new guy in the secondary and working alongside his fellow defensive backs)
"It's cool. They talk with me all the time. They help me along the way. Some of the calls are different, different names, so I'm getting used to it and they're helping me along the way."
