Training camp for the defending Super Bowl champions moved a heavy step closer on Friday. Professional movers packed the Patriots weight room and training facilities at CMGI Field in Foxboro into trucks to continue with day two of the team's three day move to Bryant College for training camp. Weight plates, weight benches, medicine balls and dumbbells included some of the items joining film, training and playing equipment on the ride down Interstate 295 to their new home for the next month.
While camp doesn't officially open until the afternoon of July 26 and rookies don't report until July 22, movers and organizational staff have been working diligently over the last couple days to move the team's training facilities, football operations and auxiliary staff to the Bryant campus. By Sunday, July 21 the Patriots facilities in Smithfield should be fully operational and prepared to handle players who report Monday morning.
As of Friday, fans are just a week away from their first opportunity to see the likes of Tom Brady, Lawyer Milloy, Adam Vinatieri and the rest of the squad step back onto the field for the first time since the team's victory over the Rams on February 2 in New Orleans.
