… Wednesday saw clouds and rain showers, heavy at times, while the Patriots practiced this afternoon. The workout was held on the Gillette Stadium game field, in full pads.
… Just one absentee from today's session: Sebastian Vollmer. The right tackle wasn't on the field for Monday's practice, either, reason unknown.
… The good news was seeing seven players return to action after missing time recently. Wide receiver Taylor Price, rookie running backs Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen, cornerback Kyle Arrington, rookie linebacker Jeff Tarpinian, and defensive linemen Mark Anderson and Jermaine Cunningham.
… After stretching, the team broke up into position drills, as usual. At the far end of the field, with defensive linemen and linebackers in one corner and secondary players in the other, the focus was on fumble recoveries. An assistant coach would roll the ball a few yards ahead of a player, and he would run and try to scoop it up. The wet FieldTurf gave the drill an added level of difficulty.
… It was a relatively lackluster locker room interview period today, but we made the best of it, and Tom Brady's interesting press briefing helped. Visit patriots.com later this afternoon to see what we did get out of today's session.
… There won't be an injury report released today. As is customary with teams playing on Monday Night Football, the official work week for them begins on Thursday. We'll get our first confirmation of who's dealing with what injuries tomorrow afternoon.
