New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss addresses the media during his postgame press conference from Gillette Stadium on Monday, October 20, 2008.
Q: Can you talk about the screen pass?
RM: It's funny because when I first got here it was usually [Donte] Stallworth and [Wes] Welker running it. I told coach [Belichick], 'give me a shot, give me a shot' and I was just coming off the hamstring injury [last year] and they were like 'no old man we don't want you running that'. It was something we worked on for the last couple of weeks and it finally paid off, so I told coach Belichick whenever I get that slip screen I'm going to try to take one to the house. Luckily it happened. It was great execution from the whole unit.
Q: Did the defense kind of set the tone and give you guys a boost with the two turnovers early?
RM: No I think it was our mindset to come out and set the tone. Special teams had it first. If they kicked off to us the offense would have it and if we kicked off to them the defense would have it. The main focus was really to play a complementary game, special teams, offense and defense and I think we did that tonight.
Q: You said you had your best week of practice this season. What motivated you guys to do that?
RM: I can honestly say that I don't really know. With the loss to San Diego I think we really looked at the film and really critiqued ourselves and see the mistakes we made. We knew we weren't far from putting everything together. Bill [Belichick] put a lot of emphasis on this past week's preparation. He put it to us man. A lot of guys were real tired coming of the west coast, the whole week, the three hour east coast west coast time change, he really put it to us this week. Hopefully he can let up Wednesday but there's no telling if we are going to be in pads or not. It was a great game, like Bill [Belichick] said throughout the week when you have great preparation, you have a great week the game is won during the week not on Sunday. If you have a good week then you come out ready to go then the game will be a lot easier. We had a lot of things to hang our hats on tonight coming from all three units special teams, offense and defense. We put it together and I think that when we put all three of those together this team is very, very scary. We still have a lot of work to do, like I said we have a short week tomorrow is Tuesday, our day off, then we're right back at it. We're just going to keep tapping away and see what we can come up with.
