FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have released veteran safety Lawyer Milloy today.
Milloy, 29, was originally drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 1996 NFL draft out of Washington. The 6-foot, 210-pound safety appeared in every game for the Patriots for the past seven years (112), including 106 consecutive starts. He has recorded 846 career tackles, including 7 sacks, and intercepted 19 passes, including one that he returned for a touchdown. In 1998, he led the team with 151 total tackles and earned his first of four trips to the Pro Bowl (1998, 1999, 2001, 2002). In 1999, he recorded a career-high 173 total tackles, including two sacks, and led the team with four interceptions.
