That much-expected fourth surgery for Rob Gronkowski will happen by Monday at the latest, according to ESPN.
The report, first by the network's Adam Schefter, indicated that Gronk will undergo his latest operation sometime next week. ESPN's SportsCenter added the detail that it would happen "by Monday, at the latest."
SportsCenter's report also indicated that, if no complications arise from this fourth procedure, Gronkowski could be ready to participate in Patriots training camp, which starts in late July.
New England's All-Pro tight end broke his left forearm last November, which precipitated the first procedure, then broke it again in the first quarter of the playoff game against Houston in January. He underwent a third operation in February when an infection developed. This latest surgery is believed to be necessary to change the metal plate which had been inserted in Gronkowski's arm.
