According to CSNNE.com, Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo had surgery Thursday morning to repair the patella tendon in his right knee.

The Pro Bowl linebacker left last Sunday's game against the Bills and did not return. He was later seen leaving Ralph Wilson Stadium on crutches due to the patella tear.

According to CSNNE.com report Mayo is facing a six-month recovery from the surgery, one that could have him back for spring workouts with the team.

Mayo also suffered a season-ending injury a year ago in Week 6, missing the final 10 games with a torn pectoral.
