According to a report from NFL Network, Dion Lewis will begin practicing for the Patriots this week as the running back continues to work his way back from knee injuries that landed him on PUP to open the season.
Bill Belichick was asked in his Wednesday morning press conference if Lewis would practice but wouldn't comment on the matter, only saying the team would let the media know if that were to happen.
Lewis is returning from a torn ACL suffered last season, but also had to have a follow-up procedure on the knee this summer.
The running back is one of three Patriots who opened the season on the physically unable to perform list – along with guard Tre' Jackson and T Sebastian Vollmer – who have been eligible to begin practicing since last week.
Under PUP rules, once a player begins practicing the team has a 21-day window to decide whether to add him to the active roster or not.
