According to ProFootballTalk.com the Patriots are among a group of at least six teams (the Jets and 49ers are also mentioned) that have reached out to free agent wide receiver Brandon Lloyd.
The report states that the 32-year-old Lloyd has "rejected all overtures" and that he "has no interest in playing, taking the position that he's neither physically nor mentally ready to continue."
Lloyd caught 74 passes for 911 yards and four touchdowns in his first and only season in New England a year ago. He was released by the team this spring.
The Patriots have gone with a young roster at receiver this year with rookies Aaron Dobson (second-round pick), Josh Boyce (fourth round) and Kenbrell Thompkins (undrafted), as well as free agent addition Danny Amendola and returning veteran Julian Edelman.
But Amendola is dealing with a groin injury while Dobson missed the opener with a hamstring issue.
Lloyd obviously has experience in the system and working with Tom Brady, but apparently he isn't looking to return to a place where he had some limited success a last fall.
