Multiple reports indicate that wide receiver Danny Amendola has restructured his contract with the team, giving the Patriots some additional salary cap room. Amendola's new deal is now for three years and $12.75 million with a maximum value of $15 million. He was on the books to earn $4 million this season with a cap hit of roughly $5.7 million. The restructure will lower that cap number but how much room they will gain in uncertain.
Amendola served as the third wideout last season and saw his production drop significantly. He finished with just 27 catches for 200 yards and a touchdown, but his presence was felt in the postseason when he grabbed 11 balls for 137 yards and three scores. Several reports indicated that Amendola could have earned more by leaving the Patriots but wanted to remain in New England.
