NEW ORLEANS (April 18, 2005) -- The New Orleans Saints agreed to terms on a one-year contract with veteran cornerback Jimmy Williams. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Williams was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2001 draft. He signed as a free agent with San Francisco that fall and spent the past four seasons with the 49ers.
In 2004, Williams played in 12 games, starting six, recording 47 tackles and one sack.
In 50 career games, Williams has 87 tackles, one sack, one interception and five passes defended. He has also contributed on special teams, where he led the NFL in punt-return average (16.8) in 2002.
