PITTSBURGH -- Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons didn't practice again Tuesday because of a high ankle sprain and isn't expected to play in the NFL season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
Timmons didn't take part in any pre-game practices, and Steelers players who don't practice rarely play. Pittsburgh faces Tennessee on Thursday night.
Timmons, who is moving into the starting lineup this season, would be replaced by Keyaron Fox, one of the Steelers' two special-teams captains. Fox played with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2004 to 2007, but he didn't start any games for the Steelers last season.
Linebacker James Farrior says of Fox, "He's showed all the coaches he knows what to do, and they trust him a lot more now."
