HOUSTON (May 3, 2005) -- The Houston Texans signed linebacker Zeke Moreno, punter Curtis Ansel and undrafted rookie free agent Myniya Smith. Moreno, who spent the last four seasons with San Diego, played in nine games last season before going on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. He had his best season in 2003, when he started 12 games, making 78 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.
Ansel signed with Detroit as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2004 and was later released in training camp. At the University of Kansas, he averaged 41.2 yards per punt on 154 attempts and set the Big 12 record for longest punt, 83 yards at Baylor.
Smith, a 6-foot-6, 343-pound defensive lineman from Southern University in Louisiana, started 10 games in his senior season and was voted first-team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference.
