Tom Brady Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been selected as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The National Football League announced today that QB Tom Brady has been selected as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Patriots' 38-24 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. It is the 18th time in his career that he has received the AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor. Since the inception of the weekly award in 1984, Peyton Manning - who has earned the honor 20 times - is the only player to have been selected for the award more often than Brady. Brady is now tied with Dan Marino for second place with 18 Player of the Week honors.

Brady completed 32-of-48 passes for a franchise record 517 yards and four touchdowns, including an NFL-record tying 99-yard touchdown pass to WR Wes Welker. Brady became the 11th NFL quarterback to throw for 500 yards or more in a game. His 517 yards are the fifth highest in NFL history and he is the first to pass for 500 yards since Ben Roethlisberger passed for 503 yards in 2009.

With his four touchdowns against Miami, Brady has now thrown four or more touchdowns in a game 15 times, including 11 games with four-touchdowns, two games with five touchdowns and two games with six touchdowns. The 15 games with at least four touchdowns now ranks fifth all-time in NFL history.
