PATRIOTS 2025 FOURTH-ROUND DRAFT PICK JOSHUA FARMER
PRESS CONFERENCE
April 26, 2025
Q: Hey Joshua, how are you?
JF: I'm good, how are you?
Q: I'm doing great. Thanks for taking the time for us. I want to ask you what's your reaction to being picked by the Patriots?
JF: It's amazing, man. It's what I dreamed of, to play in the NFL. Once I got past round two, everybody knew I was projected to go in the first two rounds. Once I got past two, I just knew I wanted to be at a great organization. It's a great thing, a great fit for me. Coach Clint [McMillan], the defensive line coach there, he coached me in college. He was my first offer at Florida State. Honestly, man, I'm just blessed. My whole life, I just had to come behind the sticks and I'm just happy to be off the board. I know they got Coach T [Terrell Williams] there. What he did at Detroit and how he got those guys going. I'm just happy to be there, man. Coach Vrabel, he's a trench guy, so I got everything I can imagine. Boston is a perfect place to go and just focus. It's not Florida, it's just a place you can go and just thrive. I'm just ready to get there, just take over and do my best and give my all to the team.
Q: I see you're in the car. What has today been like for you? Where are you?
JF: Honestly, man, I'm at the house. I had a draft party the first two days. A lot of people came out. I got family here, my brothers and immediate family. I didn't even want to do a party, but my brothers and sisters, they're still happy. They treated me like I'm a top five pick and I'm just thankful and I'm blessed. Honestly, I'm just ready to get to work. It's been great and I love what you all got going on in New England. I'm just ready to get to work.
Q: Hey Josh, congratulations. How would you describe yourself as a player? What should Patriots fans expect that they're getting from you when you get started?
JF: I'll describe me as a tough relentless player. I'm just ready to give my all. They're going to get a tough defensive tackle. I think it was probably 17 defensive tackles taken in front of me. Everybody in the world knows that's not how it's supposed to go. I'm just ready to get there and prove everybody wrong and be the best me every day. That's all I can say. I'm just blessed and God did this for a reason. Everything happens for a reason and I wouldn't want it to go any other way. I'm blessed.
Q: Hey Joshua, congratulations on being drafted and welcome to New England. I'm curious, how much contact did you have with the Patriots in the pre-draft process from the Senior Bowl on?
JF: Yeah, I went on a 30 visit there. I loved it. I love Coach Vrabel. I remember him my freshman year, coming to Florida State and putting on the pad and letting them guys strike him. He's been catching my eye. I just remember seeing him. He's a guy that wants to feel you out and I couldn't be more thankful. I got Coach Vrabel, Coach T and Coach Clint. Coach Clint was my first coach. What other situation can I be in? When I got there, Milton [Williams] sat down for 30 minutes and talked. It's just God, man. Let me show you this picture [Farmer and Milton Williams]. It's just crazy how God works. I don't know what to say. He sat down and talked with me for at least 30 minutes. It was just me and him. He was a later round guy, kind of like me in the third round and fourth round. He just sat down and talked to me. No other visit I went on was like that. He's just a great guy. Awesome. Fantastic.
Q: Hey Joshua, congratulations. You said, I think at least twice now, how you felt like 17 defensive tackles were taken ahead of you. Is it safe to say you're coming to New England with a chip on your shoulder?
JF: I was coming down with that anyway, but yeah, it grew bigger. I'm in the right situation. Me and Milton and Christian [Barmore]. We got some dogs now. It's not going to be the same. We should be bringing back the old New England.
Q: Hey, Josh, when you think New England Patriots, what do you think? What kind of motivation do you have to start to be a part of this franchise?
JF: Well, I think you see a lot of guys go to New England and they like to stay there. It's the reason people like to be there, like to thrive there. When it's time to be up, they want to be there. That's how I look at New England. Me, Will [Campbell], and the other job picks. I think we're coming and we're going to change some things. Milton and I, I think we're going to bring back the old New England.
