Players to Watch: Chiefs at Patriots
Patriots Football Weekly's Andy Hart shares his players to watch during the Patriots Week 6 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, October 14, 2018.

Julian Edelman, WR – The slot receiver returned to the mix against the Colts, caught the first pass of the game and helped ignite the offense. As New England heads into this potential shootout with K.C., Edelman's role jumpstarting the passing attack and keeping the offense on the field will be critically important on Sunday night.

Devin McCourty, S – Coming off a game in which he was involved in allowing two touchdowns (and nearly a third), the veteran free safety will need to be better against a Chiefs offense that sprinkles playmaking weapons all over the field. McCourty's coverage and tackling will be a big factor in avoiding big plays allowed.

Tom Brady, QB – Brady could find himself in a shootout with the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City passing attack. If so, the GOAT and his receivers need to avoid the turnovers that have come a bit too frequently so far this season.

Kyle Van Noy, LB – The Chiefs can run or throw the ball. They move weapons all over the field with various formations and motions. Patrick Mahomes is dangerous on the move. As such, Van Noy's versatility will be in the spotlight all night for the New England front seven.

Sony Michel, RB – Given the lack of depth in the New England backfield and his increased production in recent weeks, the rookie first-round running back Michel has become a key cog in the Patriots offense. Michel has seen his per-carry-average increase in four straight games to open his career and has found the end zone in each of the last two weeks, while combining for 210 yards rushing in those games.

Patrick Mahomes, QB – The first-year Chiefs starter has been anointed the next big thing at the quarterback position given his hot, 5-0 start to the season. The athletic, strong-armed, accurate youngster looks to add to his legend with a prime time trip to Foxborough to measure up against the GOAT.

Chris Jones, DL – Jones has just one sack, but that is only a part of the disruption he brings to the Chiefs defensive front. Though K.C.'s defense has its issues, the front can hassle the quarterback and Jones is an underrated all-around defensive lineman.

Tyreek Hill, WR – In a pretty short time, the speedy Hill has become one of the most feared playmakers in the game today. He moves all over the formation as the Chiefs try to get their second-leading pass catcher (27 catches for 425 yards and 3 TDs) the ball in space with a chance to hit a big play.

Dee Ford, LB – Kansas City's outside linebacker is tied for the team lead with four sacks, pacing a pass rush that's one of the few relative strengths of the Chiefs defense.

Travis Kelce, TE – While those proclaiming Kelce the best tight end in the NFL seem to have forgotten just how good Rob Gronkowski is, there is no question that the Chiefs star is a dangerous weapon. Kelce leads Kansas City with 28 catches for 407 yards with three touchdowns on the season, bringing dangerous run-after-catch ability to this battle with a defense that's had its issues with tight ends of late.
