Players to Watch: Jets at Patriots
Patriots.com's Mike Dussault shares his players to watch during the Patriots Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Marshall Newhouse, OT: With Isaiah Wynn being placed on IR, Newhouse is now the favorite to lock down Tom Brady's blind side for the foreseeable future. Acquired just last week, the tackle should benefit from more practice time. Suddenly, the newcomer is a big, important piece of the offense.

Adam Butler, DT: Butler had the best game of his career against the Dolphins, playing in all personnel packages and being equally effective in all of them. The third-year undrafted defensive tackle will be looking to build on that success against the Jets and should spend plenty of time in the Jets backfield.

Matt LaCosse, TE: LaCosse saw his first game action of the season after recovering from an ankle injury and chipped in with two catches. With the majority of the coverage attention going to the wide receivers and running backs, LaCosse could put together a pretty solid season finding open spaces in the defense. The biggest key? Sustaining his blocks and helping to get the running game going.

Jonathan Jones, CB: The newly-extended cornerback saw time at safety against the Dolphins, only adding to his versatility. He won't be under the radar much longer and has emerged as one of the key pieces of the secondary who can play a variety of roles. He seems due for a splash play.

Luke Falk, QB: A TB12 devotee, Falk was thrust into the starting quarterback spot last week. The second-year player spent time with the Titans and Dolphins last year before starting this season on the Jets practice squad. He has a tall task ahead of him facing a Patriots defense that has only given up a single field goal through two games.

LeVeon Bell, RB: After sitting out last season, Bell joined the Jets this year and is their only significant weapon remaining. He's averaging just 3.4 yards-per-attempt but is still a dangerous player who could do some damage if he finds space inside the Patriots defense.

Sam Ficken, K: For those who are worried about Stephen Gostkowski, the Jets just signed Ficken off the street last week. That's how thin the free agent market is for kickers. Ficken made his only field goal attempt last week and will be looking to hang his second field goal of the season on the Pats, which would be only the second they've allowed this season.

Leonard Williams, DE: The 2015 sixth-overall pick has been a disappointment for the Jets and has gotten off to another slow start. Still, he'll likely be facing a backup tackle, so if ever there was a time for Williams to get it in gear, it would be this week. If he's invisible again the Jets are in big trouble.

Darryl Roberts, CB: With high-priced free agent Trumaine Johnson sitting on the bench, the former Patriots undrafted rookie Roberts is now one of the key cornerbacks for the Jets and through two games has played every defensive snap. He'll draw the unfavorable task of matching up with the Patriots' receivers.
