Elected as a team captain for the second time in his career, after serving as a team captain in 2019 with Indianapolis.
Started the first five games before serving as the backup to QB Drake Maye beginning in Week 6 vs. Houston.
Made his third start as a Patriot in the season opener at Cincinnati (9/8) after starting two games as a rookie in 2016. He completed 15-of-24 passes for 121 yards.
Became the 30th player to have at least two stints with the Patriots since 2000.
Threw his first touchdown as a Patriot to WR Ja'Lynn Polk five yards out, capping an 8 play, 64-yard drive in the first quarter vs. Seattle (9/15). He completed 15-of-27 passes for 149 yards and the 1 touchdown.
Replaced the injured QB Drake Maye in the second quarter vs. the New York Jets (10/27) and led the Patriots on two fourth-quarter scoring drives to snap the team's six-game losing streak.
