CINCINNATI (April 3, 2006) -- The Cincinnati Bengals signed unrestricted free-agent defensive tackle Sam Adams to a three-year contract.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-4, 335-pound Adams earned three Pro Bowl selections in the last six years. He was the No. 8 overall pick in the 1994 draft by Seattle, and played six seasons for the Seahawks before signing as an unrestricted free agent with Baltimore in 2000.
Adams earned his first Pro Bowl berth while starting every game for the Super Bowl champion Ravens. He played one more season in Baltimore before going to Oakland for the 2002 season. He spent the last three seasons in Buffalo.
Adams started the first eight games last season for Buffalo before suffering an ankle injury. That limited him to six games with one start in the season's second half.
Adams has 436 tackles and 42 sacks in 179 career games.
Also, the Bengals signed 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive lineman Scott Kooistra, a restricted free agent, to a one-year contract. Kooistra is a three-year veteran who played 15 games last season for Cincinnati, starting one.
Financial terms of Kooistra's deal were not disclosed.
