Doug Flutie is about to tango his way into living rooms across America. The former Patriot is one of 12 celebrities to join the cast of Dancing with the Stars in its 22nd season.
Flutie will trade in his cleats for dancing shoes and partner up with Karina Smirnoff, who has been guiding celebrities since the show's third season. Smirnoff has danced her way to second place with Mario Lopez in Season 3, third place with wide receiver Jacoby Jones in Season 16 and fourth place with the "Karate Kid" Ralph Macchio in Season 12.
The cast was announced March 8 on Good Morning America, and Flutie won't be the only current or former NFL player to hit the Dancing with the Stars stage. Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller of the Denver Broncos will also be bringing their best moves to the show.
Flutie's years with the Patriots have not been forgotten, and he wants Patriots Nation to continue supporting him as he takes on a new kind of competition. In a video addressed to Patriots fans, Flutie and Smirnoff both expressed excitement for the show and for New England supporters to vote for their hometown celebrity.
Dancing with the Stars returns to ABC on March 21 at 8 p.m.
