The stretch of summer before training camp can be a sad time for football fans, but Patriots fans will have something special airing on Showtime to help get them through.
"100%: Julian Edelman," a feature documentary following Julian's journey from a season-ending injury in 2017 to Super Bowl MVP, will air on Showtime on June 28, he announced Monday.
"If you would have told me when I got hurt two years ago that 100% would be the result, I wouldn't have believed you," Julian said in a statement released by Showtime on June 3. "Showtime has been amazing. It turns out making movies is a lot of fun."
The documentary is also the start of Coast Productions, according to Deadline. The production company, founded by Julian and his business partner Assaf Swissa, is also pitching a romcom and a half-hour dramedy.
For years, Julian has starred in and created videos on his social media, including Burger Tyme, a "Cops" parody and Smoothie Tyme, so this move isn't a surprise.
"What I play is a tough game, and you're handling media during games and practice and it's all about football. This was an outlet to showcase and communicate a synergy directly with fans and showing them what you're really about," Juilan said to Deadline. "After doing that first Smoothie Tyme video, seeing the cutting, and learning about the background of making and producing content, thinking it's going to be complete shit, and then we make it and then people like it, that's when I got interested in being part of a producing team. It's fun to have a say and we've got a good team and that's when I really got interested in doing more."
The documentary is narrated by Michael Rapaport and includes interviews from Tom Brady, Snoop Dogg, Michael Strahan, Deion Sanders and Mark Wahlberg.
You can catch "100%: Julian Edelman" at 9 p.m. on Showtime on June 28. Set your DVRs, folks. It's documentary tyme.
