The Patriots may have suffered a devastating blow early in the afternoon session on Monday when starting left guard Mike Compton was carted off the field with an undisclosed injury.
The team had no news to report as to the nature or severity of the injury, but it appeared to be serious. The injury took place during individual blocking drills just after the team took the field for the start of the afternoon workout.
If Compton is out for any length of time, it would represent the third potential starting linemen to go down in less than a week or work. Joe Panos decided to retire just before the start of camp last Thursday, and rookie Matt Light, who began camp working with the first unit at right tackle, hurt his ankle on Friday and hasn't practiced since.
