FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots have signed DL Armond Armstead. Terms of the contract were not announced.

Armstead, 22, played last season for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2012 out of the University of Southern California. The 6-foot-5, 298-pounder, compiled 43 tackles, two special teams tackles and six sacks. He was also named to the CFL All-Star game and helped Toronto win the Grey Cup. He started in 24 games at USC from 2008 through 2010.
