The over 700 inner city Boston youths who attend Camp Harbor View in Quincy, Mass. each summer Monday have a new name for their playing fields.
The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation has been a consistent contributor to the camp, and on Monday camp directors honored the foundation by officially naming the onsite athletic field, "New England Patriots Field."
Josh Kraft, president of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and New England Patriots Executive Director of Community Affairs, Andre Tippett were on hand for the field dedication, which was presented by Camp Harbor View President, Jack Connors Jr. and camp director, Cara Gould.
Camp Harbor View provides children ages 11 to 14 living in Boston neighborhoods a chance to escape from the city and have a true summer camp experience. Two four-week sessions in July and August encourage the kids to build their confidence and leadership skills while also enjoying summer activities, such as hiking, swimming and engaging in sports. Each child can attend the camp for just $5 per session and transportation to and from the city is included for no additional cost.'
"Words cannot describe how good Camp Harbor View is for those kids that have the opportunity to spend the summer there," Tippet said. "Coming from their environment, it is a great safe haven for them."
