FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots activated rookie wide receiver Chas Gessner from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list today.
Gessner, 22, was signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent on May 2, 2003. The 6-foot-4-inch, 215-pound wide receiver attended Brown University, where he finished his college career with 292 receptions for 3,408 yards and 36 touchdowns. Gessner's move to the Patriots' active roster comes following a 21-day evaluation period during which time he had been practicing with the team. Gessner was placed on the Reserve/PUP list on Aug. 26, 2003 after suffering a leg injury prior to 2003 training camp.
