Patriots fans with cars registered in Rhode Island and Massachusetts will have the opportunity to bid on exclusive low number Patriots license plates for charity.
The 2010 auction will begin with four Massachusetts plates and 10 Rhode Island plates. The plates available for auction will have the letters NE followed by a one, two or three-digit number (e.g. NE-5, NE-15 or NE-155).
The New England Patriots Rhode Island license plate is new in 2010. It features both the Patriots' logo and the logo of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, along with the text "Super Bowl Champions XXXVI, XXXVIII & XXXIX."
The New England Patriots Massachusetts license plate has been on the road since 2005, with more than 20,000 in circulation. The license plate features the Patriots logo centered above the Roman numerals representing each of the team's three Super Bowl Championships as well as the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation logo.
Bids will be accepted at www.ProTeamAuctions.com beginning September 15 at 10 a.m. Starting bids for plates are $200. Low number plates for both states will be auctioned throughout the 2010 football season.
All proceeds will benefit the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, which supports charities throughout New England and in 2010 is focusing on cancer awareness and prevention.
Both Massachusetts and Rhode Island plates are available for purchase at www.patriots.com/community, but the Foundation allows fans to bid on the exclusive low number plates.
