Victoria Nguyen was a Patriots Cheerleader for the 2017 season and had the opportunity to travel to Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Currently, she is a second-year medical student and is preparing to take the first part of her US Medical Licensing Exam this spring. She is very excited to be moving onto the clinical portion of her medical school training this summer where she will be rotating through different specialties at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME. Becoming a Patriots Cheerleader gave Victoria a platform to empower young women to pursue a Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) career. It also enabled her to volunteer in hospitals, where she brought cheer and compassion to patients in a way that she had not been previously able to as an aspiring healthcare professional. She believes that all of her interactions with the New England Patriots' community has strengthened her communication skills which she will carry with her into her career of patient care.
Outside of classes Victoria has been busy immersing herself in new experiences in her local community and across the world. This past year she did a forty-eight hour hospice immersion where she became part of the care team at the Gosnell Hospice Home. She also took part in a three day rural immersion in Farmington, ME where she learned about the health services offered in the area. In her time off from school, Victoria traveled to six major cities in Asia – Hong Kong, Kyoto, Osaka, Taipei, Hanoi, and Saigon. She believes that traveling and experiencing different cultures is immensely important in developing an understanding of people as a whole. Vicky is headed to Panama this June on a medical mission trip, where she will provide care for those less fortunate and is looking forward to furthering her knowledge of different cultures.
