FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that they have claimed DT Khyri Thornton off waivers from Green Bay. In addition, the Patriots released OL Cameron Fleming.
Thornton, 25, originally entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick (85th overall) by Green Bay in 2014 out of Southern Mississippi. The 6-foot-3, 315-pounder, suffered an injury in the 2014 preseason finale and spent his rookie season on injured reserve. He was released by Green Bay on Sept. 5, 2015.
Fleming, 23, originally joined the Patriots as a fourth-round draft pick (140th overall) in 2014 out of Stanford. The 6-foot-6, 320-pounder, appeared in seven regular-season games with two starts – one at tackle-eligible tight end and one at right guard. He also saw action in two postseason games, including Super Bowl XLIX.
