FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have claimed WR Amara Darboh off waivers from Seattle and WR Chad Hansen off waivers from the New York Jets.
Darboh, 24, originally entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick (106th overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft by Seattle out of Michigan. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder appeared as a reserve in all 16 games last year and totaled eight receptions for 71 yards. Amara finished his career at Michigan starting 28-of-49 games played with 151 receptions, 2,062 yards and 14 touchdowns. As fifth-year senior, he was an All-Big Ten second team and a Biletnikoff Award candidate, playing in all 13 games. He led team with 57 receptions for 862 yards and seven touchdowns.
Hansen, 23, was drafted by the New York Jets in the fourth round (141st overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft out of California. The 6-foot-2, 202-pounder played in 15 regular-season games with one start last year and posted nine receptions for 94 yards. Hansen appeared in 20 games over two years at Cal and totaled in 111 receptions for 1,498 yards and 12 touchdowns. He transferred from Idaho State, where he started all 11 games in which he appeared as a true freshman and had 45 receptions for 501 yards with three receiving touchdowns.
