The Boston Herald breaks down the season into categories to illustrate the up and down ride that was the 2009-2010 Patriots.
The "No. 1 reason never to fall asleep before the game is over" category stems from the Patriots-Colts game. The Patriots blew a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter and failed to covert on the now infamous fourth-and-2 from their own 28-yard line.
The "best reason for euphoria" came in a Week 6 blowout over the Titans on a snowy day in Foxborough. QB Tom Bradyset a record with five touchdown passes in single quarter en route to a 59-0 shutout victory.
The "worst karma" relates to a few games when the Patriots sported throwback uniforms to celebrate the old Boston Patriots for the league's 50th anniversary. Although they wore the jersey in a Week 1 comeback win against the Bills and beat the Titans, the Patriots fell to the Broncos and Dolphins in the old uniforms as well.
Want to know the "biggest waste of contract paper?" The story suggests WR Joey Galloway is the recipient. Galloway and the offense never got on the same page evident when QB Tom Bradyyelled an expletive towards Galloway before he was later released.
The "most surprising rookies" were WR Julian Edelmanand DL Myron Pryor. Edelman, a quarterback at Kent State just a year ago, became a slot receiver and recorded 359 yards despite missing time with a forearm injury. He also got the start for an injured Wes Welker in Wild-card weekend. Pryor, a sixth-round draft selection out of Kentucky, recorded 20 tackles and saw more playing time than NT/DL Ron Brace.
