Mike Reiss of the MetroWest Daily News offers a story on Patriots left tackle Matt Light. Reiss reports that Light is looking forward to training camp which begins July 29th and is very encouraged by how much the entire offensive squad is on the same page. "It's awesome that we have almost the entire offense back, and I think that showed in our (June) minicamp," said Light. "It was probably our best minicamp in my time here. Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa of the Boston Herald's "Inside Track" report that Patriots QB Tom Brady and Red Sox Center Fielder Johnny Damon will face-off as the two top nominees for the Golden Surfboard award of TeenPeoples "Teen Choice Awards." The "Inside Track" also notes that Tom Brady reportedly spent $1,000 for 100 Red Sox ring raffle tickets and gave them away to friends and family.
Jerome Solomon of the Boston Globe discusses the Patriots nominations for the ESPY awards. The Patriots will be going head-to-head with the Red Sox in a number of categories. They are nominated for Best Team, Best NFL Player, Best Coach/Manager, Best Record Breaking Performance and Best Championship Performance. Voting ended last Friday and the awards will be presented July 17th on ESPN. Solomon also talks about the Patriots draft class of which Logan Mankins, Ellis Hobbs, Nick Kaczur and James Sanders still have yet to sign contracts with the team.
